2 months → 1 week
to ship a small change, once years of automation debt were cleared in under four months.
Solution architect and project lead2021 to 2022
Years of technical debt cleared in under four months, at the quoted price, and deployments went from about two months to about a week.
The situation
Years of Workflow Rules, Process Builders and duplicated triggers had made every release slow and risky. Even small changes took about two months to reach production, and sales, sales ops and admins hit errors every day. Salesforce was retiring Workflow Rules and Process Builder, so the clean-up could not wait.
What I built
- Org audited: 238 workflow rules, 41 Process Builders, 15 triggers, 13 high-risk security settings
- Workflow Rules and Process Builders converted to Flow across 15 objects, one naming convention and one design pattern
- Every change run through sandbox, full sandbox, then production with Gearset on fixed deployment days
- Three-phase roadmap to a cheaper Salesforce edition, and full documentation handed over

Results
- Delivered in 69 days against a forecast of about 70, at the quoted price, with all errors resolved at handover. The client had been told this kind of work would take six to eight months.
- Small changes went from about two months to about one week to deploy.
- Edition change modelled at about $244k a year in savings at a 40% discount. The client made that move in 2023 with a partner I referred, and everything carried over.
